My Journey: " CC Here HOPE "

CC, I know some ,{ alot} about the way you feel. I just found out alot about the last 17 months since Katrina hit. It's a whole, whole lot of changes I've went threw. Not only me, but millions of people. But I'd like to speak for myself. I can feel the hurt for you CC. Thats what I've been going thru, and the depression. And the crying, thinking nobody cares. And just not wanting to deal with any of the bull crap any more. I'm not talking about suscide. I'm talking about getting all my stuff together, hooking my vehicle onto the R.V. and just hitting the road. I don't want to bother you with my whole story, if your interested you can read my blog!! But after we got out from here, and things were looking better. We had gotten a Winnebago, and things we needed to survive in Ms. , clothes, canned food, the necessities. Anyway we were heading home and the R.V. caught on fire and we lost everything again. So its been a double whammie. I've been dealing with it. It's hard, but you have to BELIEVE and go on. and "Believe in Miracles" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God knew just how much I could take, I was pondering the decision of what to do when Mr. Joe called me, about the house! He was my Miracle Blessing !! So I will pray for you that you will find the answer your looking for! CC, out of the word- POTHOLE, comes HOPE !!! And when Life serves you a LEMON- make LEMONADE

My Journey : "Storage Sheds"

Hi, Well I now see Larry has gotten him a storage shed. So he's been blessed. When I had asked him at one time about getting one, his reply was " I don't have one either." I wonder what you have to do now to get one? There is no place to sign up for one , that I know of. It sure would be nice to have one. Can anybody give me a link to somebody that will truely have one, or better information? Thank-you...............God Bless.......................

My Journey: Recovering from "The Nothing"

" Recovering From The NOTHING "
Once upon a time the Nothing came. It passes over many lands, near and far.
Many villagers left and too many stayed. The villagers that stayed thought they could fight the Nothing, but they couldn't.
When the Nothing was gone, travelers from all the countryside came to help. The roads were impassable. Travelers had to climb and weave around trees, houses, boats and everything else you could imagine. The Nothing had scooped everything up, like a childs game of jacks and dropped it.
The travelers journeyed down the road until it came to a dead-end. In bewilderment , they couldn't believe their eyes. The bridge was broken - gone. It looked like a giant climbed out of the sea, stepped on and kicked the bridge around like building blocks.
The town nearest to the bay was said, that a man named Saint Louis had visited once.
The other town was a crescent shaped land where the waves met the shore.
The Nothing was furious as if elevated from the warm waters. Villagers were washed from their houses. Families were trapped in attics, and some were on roofs. Water was everywhere. Clothes, shoes, books and dishes were hanging out of mighty oaks. It looked like someone shot them out of cannons. Villagers looked like rag dolls wonderin around looking for the comfort of their toy boxes.
The Nothing stole the laughter of the children, birds' singing, shadow and color. Everythin was the color of gray not a green leaf to be found.
The sun rose, the Nothing came, the sun went to sleep. It happened just like that.
Everything was gone.
The villagers were so sad, so quiet, no more tears left.
As the days passed many lines were formed. One for food, one for water, clothes, medicine and everything you could imagine.
The doctor stood with the farmer. The baker stood with the banker. They exchanged stories of hardships, dreams, and made new friends.
Some of the villagers and Travelers dressed different. Some wore coats with patches some wore shirts with flowers. Some wore sandals and others wore boots.
And together they prayed.
Faith. Hope and Charity.
And the Angels smiled!
This is not the end - but a new beginning.
Written by: June Kerner-Cornwell, Lumberton, Miss.
P.S. Villagers please remember there is nothing more important than your life- nothing! See you Dec. 9 when we decorate the Christmas tree at the foot of the Bay St. Louis Bridge...........................The END......................................................

I kept this because it really hit home. It really tells it just like it was. I'm sure other people know excatly what June was talking about.............God Bless............

My Journey: The best news: I'm getting a NEW HOUSE!

Well my CHRISTMAS has arrived early!! I got a call the other morning on December 11th. The phone woke me at 8:45 am. It was a man named Joe, from a organization that I had talked to a few months ago. He told me they are going to build me a house! It's a BEAUTIFUL house, a prefab from 84 Lumber. I have been Truly BLESSED, given a CHRISTMAS MIRACLE.
I couldn't want anything more for Christmas. I want to Thank him and everyone in his organization. And God Bless them all.

My Journey: " New houses in Pearlington"

These are two brand new houses on White's Road, just across from Kellar St. I know these families aut to be very happy. They are truly blessed to have such nice houses built for them. .......................................................................God Bless.........................................................................

My Journey: "After Katrina and Now"

Top picture is whats left now of the store and house that was there.

This is the store and house after Katrina hit. It's also a half of a trailer that they had to cut because it was blocking the road.
The trailer that was cut in half came from the left side of the restaurant below. Which was on the other side of 604, and down the road a bit !
Things are never going to be the same in Pearlington again !!

.............GodBless....................

My Journey: The Houseboats, gone now !!

This is whats left of the Houseboats now, they were on old Hwy.90 going South, just before the Right turn onto Freemo into Slidell. They were in the Pearl River. In the middle picture thats what Katrina did to them. Now they're sitting in a pile on the side of the road waiting to be taken away. Alot of things, well I guess everything, is never going to be the same around here...God Bless..........

My Journey: One of our stores, now gone

This is ,or was the store just across the green bridge, just over the Ms.-La. state line. It was in La. They were there for many, many years. They sold Lottery tickets, so people came from miles and miles to get their lottery tickets there. It was the closest store to go for the Lottery, unless you went to Slidell, or some place else in La. It's sad, I guess they'll never rebuild. It looks like soon the Pearl River will just take it completely over. ..................God Bless.........................................

My Journey: "Thanksgiving" feast

Well it wasn't the best I ever had, but it's what we did. Will had to work all night on Wednesday, and didn't get home until 6am. And I was up all night , so neither of us went to bed until 6:30am. We had been invited to several different friends houses, and Laginappe Church in BaySt.Louis had called and invited us to their dinner also.
But Will had to be at work again that evening at 6pm, so we just didn't feel like going thru all that. I didn't feel good, and him either. I'm sure I had phemonia, and didn't go to the doctor and am still trying to get over it. Anyway he woke me up around 2:30pm, and asked me if I thought the AeZ Serve was opened. I said yes probably, call them. So he did, he ordered us each a pizza, and for dessert got us some ice cream. It did the trick, and we were together so thats what mattered. So later he went off to work, and I talked to family members, and lazed around. So it was a quiet day.

My Journey: "New Pictures, I hope soon !! "

Pictures in Pearlington.
I'm hoping to have another nice day or two so I can mossy around and try to get some pictures. There have been alot of changes around here , and other places too. So be watching for them.. Maybe as soon as tomorrow !!
The picture with the well thing, now has a new trailer there. I'll get a picture so we can compare them. Nov.25th, at the top.I got the picture. It's the one with the trailer and the well. So they now have a new home! God Bless them. ...................................God Bless................

My Journey: "No SHED in SIGHT"

Well the guys are back in Pearlington from Charlottesville, Va. The ones that are building the sheds for people here, "Sheds of Goodness", that I talked to a while back. I know I've been on that list for a long, long time, I signed it at the Recovery Center.. I stopped the other day and asked them will I be getting a shed, and I wasn't surprised when he said, "NO"
I just can't figure... Some people have two sheds?? I thought the elderly and the disabled were getting some sort of recognition for things? I can't help it that I became disabled at the age of 41, almost 12 years ago. People don't realize that I live in CRONIC PAIN every day of my life, and have to take STRONG Pain Pills everyday just to cope with everyday things. But people will look at me and say "Whats wrong with you?" I wouldn't wish my pain on my worst enemy , but people need to realize when you get Social Security Disability , you are Messed Up, HURTING. Well most people, some of them do fake it and can go just as if they have a regular job everyday, but yet they can't work!! Ha, I wish I could work. At least then I'd have some HOPE of having a house again before I die..............

My Journey: N.J. Volunteer, "CC White"

This is a wonderful lady. She came down here to Bay St. Louis a week or so after the Hurricane and couldn't believe what she saw. She went back home to N.J. and got a U-Haul and packed all her stuff and came back here, with her son Tony. She gave all her belongings to the Hurricane Survivors and moved into a trailer, and started helping people. She is a Gulf War Veteran. She retired, but says she still has the Gulf War syndrone. But doing this is medication for her. She wants nothing in return, and takes nothing in return. I say they need more CC White's in this world. God Bless her, I know she has a very special place when she goes "HOME" to the Lord. I know she will receive ten times fold what she has given to others. She should run for PRESIDENT of U.S. !!
Please look at her web site, it's very moving. The pictures and the little girl will bring a grown man to tears.

My Journey : Happy, Happy Thanksgiving !!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY !!!

I hope everybody has a day off from the hectic life we are enduring here in this raveged land. I hope you find some peace somewhere in all this choas. If you are able to enjoy the holiday with your loving family and friends, then God has blessed you and given you a great gift. Or if it is just you and your mate, thats a great blessing too. I know I've spent a few Thanksgivings and Christmas's by myself. It's not a great feeling. One Christmas Eve I put the television on a channel that had a fireplace that filled the whole screen. It had a beautiful fire going , and made me feel so warm and cozy and home sick. I lay there for hours watching that fire, crying, and wishing things were like they used to be when I had a big , fine, family growing up. But things don't stay the way they used to be. If it did then there would be no tomorrow's or yesterday's.................

My Journey: " The last Palm Tree at Logtown"

This is the last Palm Tree among a group of three that grew along the roadside going to the boat launch at Logtown. I can remember seeing three of them years ago, "25"or so years ! They had to be about 40' tall or maybe more. I'm sure they had to be old also. Probably some of these old timers around here could tell me more about them. Or there might be something in the book they did on Logtown, if anyone still has the book. But this is the last of them! She stood thru many storms, blowing winds, and freezing winter nights. If only she could tell us stories of what see saw standing so tall looking at things for miles and miles around her. There is alot of History concerning Logtown. I've seen a White headed Eagle going down that road. It flew from tree to tree all the way down the road. It would fly 50' or so, then sit on a limb, then it would take off after a minute or so, and fly to the next tree. It just kept doing that for at least a good mile. It was beautiful. I wished so bad I'd had a camera with me.I've walked those woods and found alot of old bottles and peices of china. All kinds of stuff where the old homesteads were. I know where a Judge is buried there too. Judge Freeman Jones, I think is his name. I used to go there and put flowers by his headstone.I hope Katrina didn't move his headstone. When we found it, it was turned over, so we stood it up, and put some bricks around it. Katrina sure was a destructive Bitch. All the devestation she did that you don't really think about or see. It's a shame she had to take the last PalmTree..........God Bless..........................

My Journey: "Some Thoughts About Life"

LIFE AND FRIENDSHIP

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.....
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives...When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying......
Please tell the people who mean something to you, to those who have touched your life in one way or another, to those who make you smile when you really need it, to those that make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, to those who you want to let them know that you appreciate their friendship, and their love, and standing by your side.

My Journey: " Road Zoom Video Camera "

This is really neat ! It's a video drive thru with a 360* video camera mounted to the roof, and you can pan it around as it drives thru the rubble as if you were really there !! It requires flash and the latest browsers to be able to use it. Boy the things they are coming up with these days, the new technology is great !! It has alot of different things to look at. Some of them are: The Bay bridge, A Soldiers mom, The casino Magic, A tour along the beach, tours of streets around the beach area, The Court House, The Old Houses, Fema trailer parks, It's just amazing to look at all the videos. Hopefully it will give you a better insight of what its like around here.

I hope you are able to use it. Hopefully it will give people a better look at the devastation here on the gulf coast. ...............God Bless............................

My Journey; CHANGE TO PREVIOUS POST

Well now the Recovery Center came out the next day and says they made a mistake.
Yes, the church is giving the $250,000 but it's designated for ten families. So that isn't anything new !! Figured there was some kind of catch to it. But I wonder why he doesn't post that on the Pearlington Recovery Center web page?? He just sent out up dates in emails?? In a web page or a blog or any writing it seems like he would have all the details right before it's written. In fact I just copied the email and added it here! So ?? It's from Canada Jon, Director of C.O.D.R.A.
.................................God Bless............................................

Good morning, All,An important note of clarification concerning the American Baptist Churchgrant to Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in Pearlington:Like ALL grants, there had to be a very specific application made in orderto receive the money. Projects had to be pre-identified on the applicationand the funds granted are NOT open-ended or available for anything otherthan the projects identified in the application. These funds are designated for 10 re-building projects currently beingundertaken by Charlie Holmes and CBF in Pearlington. Under the terms of thegrant, these monies may not be used for anything other than these 10projects for which the grant was earmarked.CBF will continue to search for sources of additional funds and requestsyour patience and understanding in these matters.Thank you,Jon White,Director, C.O.D.R.A.

My Journey: 11/6/06 Good News from Recovery Center

Well I've been doing alot of research. Boy it takes a huge amount of time to look at blogs and research things. I never really got into as much really deep research on my computer that Katrina took from me, as I do on this one now. But now all I do is research on Katrina, and Katrina related things. My blog, and the hours I've got in here on it are unbelievable also. I do have to unwind every now and then and go play my games! Thats mostly what I used to do. And pictures !! I had well I don't know how many thousands of pictures I had on my Katrina computer. But it was a whole lot !! And me like a dummy should have at least took my tower with me, but no room for it. And I'm sure it would have just burnt in the fire. Oh well...
Anyway I read in the Pearlington Recovery Center blog yesterday that two people came here a couple weeks ago to look at our town. They are involved with the Presbyterian Church Group of the USA !!! I hope I have that right!!!!!! And they are giving the residents of Pearlington a $250,000 grant to help us get some things going around here. I know it's all the praying we all have been doing . I know there are people that still do care and want to help!! It's just "TOO BIG" of a tragedy and so wide spread that it is going to take some time. But God Bless these people and Thank-you Jesus for the blessing !!! They don't know the details on it yet, but I know and finally have a good feeling in my heart that things are going to work out and it will be ok. It still may take a while but now I truly feel it and believe.

My Journey: Donating to Charaties

Well I've been doing alot of research again. I've found a organization that does research on charities and katrina in general. It's called Guidestar. it's a clearinghouse for information about non profit organizations. their link is;
http://www.guidestar.com They will let you compare legal charties to donate to.

Also go to : http://www.charitynavigator.org and they will check a charity for you and let you know if it's legal or not. They also show research on where the Donations of the $4.25 Billion went to !!! And what the impact Katrina has done to the land and society !!!! It's very interesting. Example: " Katrinas destruction stretched across 90,000 sq. miles. " Govt. officials estimate 500,000 people may need mental health assistance to deal with anxiety, depression, and hostility caused by Katrina. In Hancock County , BaySt.Louis , nearly every business and home was destroyed or heavly damaged. Today some salvagable homes are being repaired. But 70% of businesses remain closed.

They also give good pointers on giving to charities.

My Journey:"Is Pearlington A Dream?" Do I Live Here?

Rocky Pullmans House and our Mailboxes !!

WHERE IS PEARLINGTON MISSISSIPPI ??????? DO WE REALLY LIVE IN A SMALL UNINCORPORATED TOWN, ON THE MISSISSIPPI AND LOUISIANA STATE LINES???? It REALLY IS ON THE UNITED STATES MAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN HANCOCK COUNTY ?????????

I do get mail here, it might be in a small row of boxes in a empty parking lot , where the Chevas Grocery was, until it burnt down. I did get mail at a REAL POSTOFFICE, until Katrina came and took it away. I even had a REAL MAILBOX in front of my house also. Katrina took it too, but I know I had it and thats where my mail came to everyday. We pay taxes in HANCOCK COUNTY. We spend our $money in Hancock Co. We have car tags that say Hancock Co.and Ms.
My drivers license says I live in Pearlington, Ms. But Who Knows We Are A Town, and People, Families, Live Here !!! Who recognises us????? Who Are We? Who Represents Us? Does Gene Taylor?? No !! Does Haley Barbour ?? No !! Does Rocky Pullman?? No !Who Does? Can somebody tell me????????????????????
So I know President Bush doesn't know we're here. I don't think FEMA does either!
Today I had a phone call from one of the Recovery Centers that is ran by a volunteer group. Not a small one, a large group, in BaySt.Louis. They said they can't help me because Pearlington isn't in their area !!! I'd like to know who's area we are in? ?????Maybe NASA since we live by the easement area, or the school board, because so much of Pearlington is their land! ?? Who do we have to turn to or to help us??? The RECOVERY CENTER in PEARLINGTON cannot take care of this whole town. But they do let ALL of Hancock Co. and anybody else that goes to the Pearlmart get the supplies they want. The people from Slidell, Picayune, from all over. And when the shipment of goods comes from Florida at the end of each month ALL of Hancock Co. can get stuff there. I haven't gotten anything from them yet. In fact the 1st. one I went to, a guy told me I couldn't even sit on the step of one of the cottages there. Being disabled with my back & legs, I can't stand long. I'd seen older people sitting there for a hour or more. The minute I sat down, he told me I have to move ! He was a real jerk. At least they have chairs there now. And then by the time they got to my number they had one truck left and they wouldn't open it. All that was left was a few odds and ends. They said everyone had gotten a chance to get stuff, except for 10-20 people ! So I left, after sitting there hours. But WHO do we have?? ""NOBODY"" !!!!!
Can somebody tell us if we are a town? Or what we are !!! Who can we contact for HELP?????? WHO is in our area???????? WHERE IS PEARLINGTON , MS ???????
WHERE IS PEARLINGTON, MISSISSIPPI ???????????????????
We Are The ForGotten Town !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT FORSAKE US!!!!!! WE ARE HERE, WE ARE NO FOOTNOTE!!!!!!!!! WE ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS, NOT A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY !!! OR WORSE !! WE LIVE !!!!!!!WE SURVIVED, WE'RE SURVIVOR'S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Journey: 10-25-06 " Monster Storm"

This is a poem I found in the newspaper also. Written by : Mrs. Hazel LaFont-Russo
"MONSTER STORM "
Oh, Beast
Where are you
that
comes to devastate my land.
The sea looks so peaceful,
but what does it hide--
the monster that dwells deep inside.
Life plays so happily
on her sunny shores--
children laughing and playing--
Then gives rise to hear the roar !
The Monster wakes, fear abounds.
The wind, the waves, the terrible sounds.
It's coming--It's coming--the children scream--
Mothers and Dads running to and fro-
Save my children--
they asked no more.
Our home is gonie, what will we do--
help us Jesus, this I pray--
help us to see another day.
Bring back the sunshine--
bring back the rain--
but help us dear Jesus--
to never see that monster again.

This is sombody's own feelings and I'm sure they lost everything also. There was nothing else written besides this poem. So I can't give any details. It's a beautiful poem. So I thought I'd share it. And God Bless Mrs. Hazel LaFont-Russo and her family.......................................

My Journey : 10-25-06 People going Nutsss....

I was reading the Times Picayune online a while ago and I read about a man that killed his girlfriend. And he also killed himself. He jumped out of a 7th. level window or balcony of a hotel in NewOrleans. He had notes on him that said where to find his girlfriend. Her head was in a pot on the stove top. Her arms and legs were in the oven. And her tourso was in the refrigerator. WOW !! Now that was a real wacked out guy to have done that to someone you love !
A restaurant owner where they often went said," they seemed like a happy young couple." "And were planning for a long life together." They were in their 20's.
The landlord said they had just moved into the apartment.
People are just LOOSING it every where. I heard on the news last night , if you think you are going crazy , your not !!! Because everybody is going nuts , so you are normal. WOW !!! It makes you wonder ?? What has this country come to? What's going on? Why are all these weird things happening ? And it's not just here, it's all over the world.
But there are alot of bad things happening since the hurricane to people. I guess its too much to bear.
