My Journey: Donating to Charaties
Well I've been doing alot of research again. I've found a organization that does research on charities and katrina in general. It's called Guidestar. it's a clearinghouse for information about non profit organizations. their link is;
http://www.guidestar.com They will let you compare legal charties to donate to.
Also go to : http://www.charitynavigator.org and they will check a charity for you and let you know if it's legal or not. They also show research on where the Donations of the $4.25 Billion went to !!! And what the impact Katrina has done to the land and society !!!! It's very interesting. Example: " Katrinas destruction stretched across 90,000 sq. miles. " Govt. officials estimate 500,000 people may need mental health assistance to deal with anxiety, depression, and hostility caused by Katrina. In Hancock County , BaySt.Louis , nearly every business and home was destroyed or heavly damaged. Today some salvagable homes are being repaired. But 70% of businesses remain closed.
They also give good pointers on giving to charities.
............................God Bless.................................
